About Examination
Our certified medical examiner will conduct a thorough evaluation of your overall health, focusing on specific areas mandated by the Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. This will include:

-
Medical History Review: The examiner will review your medical history, including any pre-existing conditions, surgeries, or medications that may impact your ability to safely perform your job as a commercial driver.
-
Vision and Hearing Testing
-
Blood Pressure and Heart Rate Measurement
-
Urinalysis: A urine sample will be collected and tested for various parameters, including the presence of drugs or alcohol. This test is crucial to ensure compliance with DOT regulations and maintain safety on the road.
-
Physical Examination
-
Respiratory Health Evaluation

Based on the results of the examination, our certified medical examiner will determine if you meet the DOT standards and issue your medical certification accordingly. They may also provide recommendations for ongoing medical care or follow-up evaluations if necessary.
How to Prepare for your DOT/CDL Physical
DOT physicals are important because they ensure the safety of both commercial drivers and the general public by assessing the physical and mental fitness of drivers to operate commercial motor vehicles. These examinations help identify any underlying medical conditions or impairments that may pose a risk while driving, thus promoting road safety.

Day of your dot exam

-
Bring necessary medical documentation: If you have any medical conditions that require ongoing treatment or have undergone recent surgeries, it’s advisable to bring relevant medical records, clearance letters, or any supporting documentation to your appointment. This also includes eyewear (glasses, contacts).

-
Be prepared for a urine sample: The DOT physical often includes a urine test to check for drug or alcohol use. Make sure you’re ready to provide a urine sample during your appointment.

-
Take care of your health beforehand: In the days leading up to your appointment, ensure you get enough rest, maintain a balanced diet, and stay hydrated. Avoid excessive caffeine or stimulants, and if you have any specific health concerns, consult your healthcare provider for guidance.
What happens if my physical reveals I have a medical problem?
We’ll complete your paperwork as required, but if it’s something we can help with, we might be able to provide you with treatment on the spot. With in-house labs at many locations, you could be on your way without the need for a second visit.
