About Exam
A Non-DOT Physical Exam is a comprehensive health assessment for employees and individuals not governed by Department of Transportation regulations. It evaluates overall fitness for work, including medical history, vital signs, vision, and general physical condition.
What Does a Non-DOT Physical Exam Include?
Unlike federally regulated exams, Non-DOT physicals can be customized based on specific job requirements. However, most exams include several key components to ensure an individual is fit for duty.

The process typically begins with a review of medical history, including past injuries, existing conditions, medications, and surgeries. Basic vital signs such as blood pressure, heart rate, and temperature are also checked to assess overall health.

A physical evaluation is conducted to examine strength, mobility, balance, coordination, joint flexibility, and general physical condition, especially important for physically demanding roles. Vision screening may be included for positions requiring clear sight for safety and accuracy, while hearing tests may be performed when the ability to detect sounds or alarms is essential.

In some cases, job-specific functional testing, such as lifting, range of motion, or endurance assessments is conducted. The goal of the exam is to ensure individuals can safely perform their job responsibilities while supporting overall workplace safety and well-being.
